Sonesta Resort Hilton Head Island Wedding Chic Affair For Stacie & Shawn

Hilton Head Island as many wedding venues and while all are nice very few stand with a beautiful setting with what they offer any clients that are looking for a Lowcountry wedding. Sonesta Resort in Hilton Head Island South Carolina is one of these venues. Featuring a spectacular pool, and very well maintained landscaped grounds, including pond and lagoon, and a one of a kind white bridge overlooking the pavilion, that leads you to the dunes and miles and miles of our South Carolina white sand beaches.

Being so fortunate to be a preferred vendor for Sonesta Resort, I received a phone call from Stacie lovely mom, who at the time was collecting information from all wedding photographers. Our phone conference was very productive and I remember her telling me that out of the 13 wedding photographers she was interviewing that my photography was unique, very different and more of an art form, that my website really reflected wedding photography in a very storytelling way with a great style for documenting wedding images like no other wedding photographer. The very next day we yes, the cinematic videographer Kevin and I were on board to capture Stacie & Shawn special day.

The day came and full of blue sky and beautiful clouds. Shawn shined with a suit by Jos.A.Bank while the groomsmen matched in style. Stacie was glowing with radiance and beauty wearing a beautiful, special and gorgeous wedding dress by Martina Liana Her shoes choice was just has amazing by having two different pairs, flat sandals by Badgley Mischka, Heels by Betsy Johnson the bridesmaids dresses with a Blush and Vintage Rose color designed by Sorella Vita was the perfect color palette. The bride’s bouquet and bridesmaids bouquet were designed by no other than the very talented Flowers by Sue.

The ceremony was held at the pavilion. It was truly breathtaking with a large chandelier in the middle and white drapping curtains. In the aisle rows stood these 11 wooden signs, each with one line from the verse Love is patient, Love is kind ( 1 Corinthians 13:4-8) A perfect touch to the decoration. Once the ceremony chairs were moved, The reception started with the bridal party doing a very different and unique grand introduction, Shawn & Stacie went into their first dance. Family and friends were treated to a fine meal featuring Filet with blue cheese and almond crust topped with Barolo wine sauce and served with seasonal Mushroom risotto cake and grilled vegetable, or Seabass with Miso glaze and Blood orange reduction. Basil mashed potatoes and grilled vegetable medley. The wine for the meal was a gift from Shawn parents winery Woodside Vineyards. Then everyone enjoyed dancing while DJ Alan really got the family and friends singing and having so much fun with their props and photo booth, the night was magical, eclectic, very chic, the beautiful couple became one and the celebration was exactly what they wished for the perfect soiree wedding.

Here from the bride and groom is their special story on how this beautiful wedding became:

Shawn and I met when we were both athletes in college at Miami University. Shawn played baseball and I swam. Athletes tend to gravitate toward one another with similar schedules and run-ins on campus events. Shawn and I hit it off right away and never looked back! We began dating in 2012 and since have both graduated, moved to different cities, bought a dog together and both ended up in Sarasota Florida. Which ended up being the spot that he proposed to me on December 30th, 2015.

While Sarasota is certainly a beautiful place, we wanted something with a little more charm and family history when picking a wedding venue. I knew right away I wanted to get married on Hilton Head Island. My parents have vacationed there for nearly 40 years and I for almost my whole life! (26 years). It’s such a special place to us as we have the best family memories there and have added many friends to the mix over the years! Everyone who knows me and my family, knows we LOVE HHI. When we started looking for wedding venues, the Sonesta was simply the easiest choice one could make. It had everything I wanted and dreamed of! From it being situated right on the water, to the covered pavilion, it was perfect.

Senior Portrait Session For Emma In Charleston, SC

Being a photographer for over 37 years has given me the ability to capture pretty much anything and anyone from regular clients to model, celebrities, and so many other great clients. I have built a huge clientele that varies in all spectrum to include weddings that turn into children photos, to family photos, to senior portrait. Mrs. Bellino who was both of our daughter’s teacher contacted me about possibly capturing Emma her daughter senior pictures. I was very honored to do that and being that I am a perfectionist in my craft I recommended to her to hire a makeup artist. Jasmine Jones of http://www.alter-image.com/ was my recommendation to her. On the day of the photo shoot that we had set, the weather was not at all cooperating, however, the forecast for the evening showed that it would still be cloudy with no rain. We met in our holy city of Charleston, Sc. I already had taken into consideration on how I would compensate for the ugly gray cloudy day with my trick lighting to create the images to look as if the sun was there and that it mimic sunset time.

The photo session lasted about 1.5 hours and could not have gone any better, Emma being very comfortable in front of the camera, her mom by her side, and me doing what I do best, making a compelling portrait. Theses images came out spectacular and as you can see by these senior portrait images.

JENI + ADAM DUNES WEST WEDDING

Being a wedding photographer as always been all I have known to be for the last 17 years and I would not have it any other way, I absolutely love capturing all of my clients special days that are full of emotion and one of theirs most important day of their life. I take such pride and honor to have the ultimate privilege to be commissioned to capture any clients magical day. My clients are unique they are usually type A like me, have some type of artistic style to them, are very thorough and critical on how and why they made their choice on selecting my wedding photography and are always looking for their wedding to be reflected by me in not only a storytelling way but in all of the images that reflect very fine art wedding photography that they will cherish for many years to come.

I had an amazing consultation with Jeni, and she hired me on the spot. A couple of weeks later I met Adam and Jeni brought her mom and a friend while I captured their engagement session. Planning their special day and designing a timeline took a few draft and that is how it should be to my client’s satisfaction. Finally, the wedding day became held at the beautiful Dunes West Golf and River Club. With such a beautiful setting of oak trees, overlooking the waterway amazing sunset. The reception was held at the clubhouse, family and friends and the couple dancing the night celebration away. Another perfect southern charm Lowcountry wedding affair.

Thank you, Jeni and Adam, for this huge honor for me to have captured these amazing wedding images for you all.

Wedding Affair, Madeleine & Kurtis At Catholic Church, Reception At The Francis Marion Hotel, Charleston, SC

Charleston SC Wedding Affair

So glad to be blogging today about this wedding soiree that I was so fortunate to capture for my clients Madeleine and Kurtis. They have lived in Charleston for many years, but Kurtis was born in Newfoundland, and Madeleine is a native Clevelander. As the Father of the Bride said at their reception, it was an unlikely story that they would meet and fall in love! But they did! In Madeleine’s words: “Soon after we met, Kurtis took me on our first date. He won me over with delicious Italian food and his great smile!” Kurtis was excited to get to know her. As Kurtis said, “It didn’t take long for me to see her in my future. I proposed to Madeleine at my historic apartment in downtown Charleston. We then began our wedding planning.”

Madeleine and Kurtis, an IT project manager and senior software engineer by trade, had a very important decision in choosing a wedding photographer Charleston is one of the top wedding destination cities in the U.S. and with many professional photographers in the area to choose from, they took time with the decision. After Madeleine read over one hundred 5-star reviews for my studio, she planned to visit my booth at The Southern Bridal Show so we could make a connection. Back in August of last year, I had the pleasure and honor of meeting Madeleine and her lovely mom.

I will never forget the reasons Madeleine and Kurtis provided for their decision to hire me. They cited the following: my presence, my 17 years as a professionally licensed wedding photographer in Charleston, my understanding of the process as evidenced by the way I explained the critical importance of a wedding day timeline, and most importantly, my passion for the art of creating unique, artistic fine art wedding images. I was very excited and so very happy and honored to be commissioned for this spectacular event that took place at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, and the Francis Marion Hotel. They knew after their engagement session with our studio that their photos would be phenomenal.

After several meetings with my clients and having completed four wedding timeline drafts, I knew exactly what my second shooter and I had to do in order to use our lenses and cameras to make this day very memorable for our lovely couple. The ceremony at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church was a full mass; once it concluded, we then allowed ample time to capture the bridal party and Madeleine and Kurtis in our Holy City of Charleston, SC by going to The Cistern at The College of Charleston, and finishing this beautiful couple session at The Battery for an incredible capture of various images that included a spectacular sunset.

The beautiful reception was held at The Francis Marion Hotel and coordinated by the very talented Gillian Crum. As you entered the Colonial Ballroom, you enjoyed the great feel of an elegant reception with southern charm. The many tables were decorated with white linens, candelabra-like displays, and both high and low floral designs created by Kim Findlay at Coastal Creations. The room was filled with hundreds of blush and peach roses that created a sensual experience for their guests as the fragrance filled the ballroom. The candles, chandeliers of the historic Colonial Ballroom, and up lighting design (by Jon Feist) projected a romantic light for the reception.

As you can see, we took advantage of the balcony for these incredible images below that give our clients two perspectives of memorable reception moments. Looking at these pictures, it is very clear that not all wedding photographers are created equally. You must always push the envelope and be different and give your clients artistic wedding images as they celebrate their special night with family and friends.

To complement the ending to this one-of-a-kind evening, Carolina’s Executive Limo Line provided the vintage Bentley for the get-away. As I got my creative juices flowing, I captured for my clients a moment they will never forget by creating a spectacular image of Madeleine and Kurtis leaving the reception. As Madeleine said, “I’ve gotten so many compliments on the work Michel did coordinating our get-away. Truly, Michel and his team were phenomenal from start to finish!”.

One of the great aspects of being a wedding photographer is to be unique and different. Creating this image with the groom and groomsmen at The Francis Marion Hotel took knowledge in wedding photography. The reason I photographed it at such a low angle is that King Street is a very busy street with pedestrians and this angle makes it look like there was no one there. Actually, there were maybe 100 plus pedestrians.

Details are so very important to capture. you must have the proper time and the artistry in creating the precious engagement ring, the gorgeous dress, and the Badgley Mischka shoes.

When your clients make such a huge investment in wedding photography you must do your very best to give them wedding images they can cherish forever. This B&W image is a perfect reflection of the romance, and feel of a couple first dance.
Capturing memorable wedding images is such a pleasure to do. Sometimes you even get very lucky when you can create wedding images from different perspective. The moment is real and meaningful.

Capturing emotions is what wedding photography is all about. Making a compelling image is what I strive for. Clearly here the aunt is enjoying her champagne and her moment of toast

Winter Wedding at the Westin Hilton Head Island Resort & Spa

My last post-wedding blog for 2016 and what a great year it has been! How can I thank Ashlee & Hannah, the sales catering, managers for The Westin Hilton Head Island Resort & Spa enough? You ladies have been so generous to me by once again referring Carla & D. Tyrell, and I am forever grateful for your wedding referrals.

Winter Hilton Head SC Wedding

These great clients Carla & D.Tyrell have been dream wedding clients with their gorgeous Hilton Head wedding. This December Lowcountry charm with the elegance of art in the ceremony and reception, with A floral affair amazing decoration, with the yellow palette makes this relaxed posh wedding, so special for this couple that they shared the beauty of their nuptials.

Carla and D. Tyrell’s Love Story

Hear from the bride and groom in their own words how this special day became:

“I was attending a company’s Christmas Party in December of 2002, when I saw her pretty face, style, and the way she presented herself, Carla immediately caught my undivided attention, and I was certainly interested and curious to know her better. After a few dates, I knew she was wife material; however, it would take experiencing life, maturing, and a lot of prayers, to realize that when we reconnected 12-years later. God put her in my life for a reason, and this time I was going to listen, follow my heart, and His will for our lives. I feel I can trust Carla with my innermost secrets. I love her kindness. I admire her patience, generosity, and playfulness. She has a sense of fun and strength of will. I love how she can stand her ground and face difficult conversations.” – D. Tyrell

“If I could rewrite I Corinthians 13:4-7; it would read: D. Tyrell is patient, D. Tyrell is kind. He does not envy, he does not boast, he is not proud. He does not dishonor others, he is not self-seeking, he is not easily angered, he keeps no record of wrongs. D. Tyrell does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. He always protects, always trusts, always hope, always perseveres. The moment I was affected by his infectious laugh and kind words, he made me feel an emotion I could embrace for a lifetime. In this chaotic world, the mere thought of D. Tyrell brings me peace and comfort. I feel honored to marry a man with a great sense of spiritual values, which is very important in both of our lives. I love admiring his handsome face, smile, and impish grin. He’s a very compassionate, loving, great dancer, and boy can he cook! “ – Carla

“We reconnected at his 40th birthday party, hosted by his mother, in December 2014. During the month of December, we found ourselves spending quite a bit of time together, and decided to explore the option of dating again. The year of dating was a wonderful experience for us both. During our courtship, we developed an unbreakable friendship, love, and appreciation for one another.
We believe that marriage is a commitment and that it requires work and growth. It means creating mutual trust and safety, sharing joy and sorrow, and making space for individual growth.
We are family oriented and would like to thank our parents and other family members for their unconditional support towards our union. We want to acknowledge our friends, each and every one of you are very special to us.’’

Charleston Wedding Photographers Reviews, Services

As a professional wedding photographer storyteller, I am trusted by my clients to capture and document one of the biggest days of their lives. Every wedding is different in so many ways, I should know by being so fortunate to have captured over 500 weddings in my 17 years, as a full-time wedding photographer. Every moment from that day as meaning and no moment is expected to be missed or not documented. Here (below) is how I have structured my brand, and have been so passionate to follow these golden rules, that have led me to have earned to be one of the most decorated and reviewed Charleston wedding photographers that showcases my accomplishment by getting glowing reviews on Google, Angie’s List, The Knot and by receiving the Wedding Wire Couples’ Choice award for 2015, 2016, 2017 and the best award I am so honored to have been given, The Wedding Wire Rated Black Badge for receiving over 105 glowing reviews from my amazing clients.

First on the list is great communications and the ability to answer your phone calls, return your wedding inquiries and reply emails promptly and most important listen to your clients. Yes, that can make such a huge difference. Your clients expect you to be professional, but does that give you a card Blanche to not listen. It is a craft I have learned and it has paid off grandly.

Next are what your client’s expectations are, and again you listen, and then you advise your clients on what can and what maybe cannot be done. You have to communicate more with your clients. Yes, not just during that initial consultation when you sign the contract and shake hands, more during the entire year up to the wedding day, so that your clients know you care and want the best for their wedding. Whether it is a phone conference between them both or just a lunch meeting, to start discussing the wedding day timeline. It is important that as a wedding photographer you implement the client’s ideas and the type of time all of this will play into the timeline. I have also heard that some wedding photographers do nothing and some just say let the planner coordinator plan that with the wedding client. While I love wedding coordinators, planners, they are not wedding photographers and they really have no idea of the type of time it takes for all different wedding photographers to capture the details pre-ready photos. Let’s face it some wedding photographers take a few minutes while master artiste like me, will look for that perfect light, or maybe add lights, set up various details, so that the image for each has that meaning and look for that perfect image, not quantity but art and quality. Most planners, coordinators will agree, they will be much happier working with a vendor that can plan this type of timeline with the clients and implement that into the master timeline.

Next, come the big day, and how you dress, how you prepare your gear and test it, and how early are you ready to show up to let your clients, your are not interested in how many hours your working but how can you exceed their expectation for their magical day.

Once the wedding is over, how far are you willing to push the envelope again to exceed those expectations, are you willing to post an amazing photo or photos with a very warm thank you the very next day on social media so that they can share it with family and friends? Then comes the most important part of every wedding client questions, when can I see all of the wedding pictures? You should provide your clients with what your contract says and in my case, always withing 30 to 40 days later, NO EXCEPTIONS, that is the golden rule. Again the client’s expectations are what is so important, they want to see their wedding as a story, well mastered edited in chronological order, presented in a beautiful gallery online. You should send a congratulation email and instructions for them on how they and their family and friends can view the photos on any platform whether it is on a phone, IPad, desktop, it should be seamless for everyone by sharing the images to any social media, or downloading the images for their personal use from that same website with just one click.

The wedding album. I made a very wise choice when I started King Street Photo Weddings, that every one of my collections would come with a wedding album, my 13 pages collection brochure describes every different album, the amount of images that are allowed for that said specific album, that every single one of them is designed personally by me. You see, your clients expect a superior, professional album and this type of service and to be able to showcase that amazing magical day in that album on their coffee table for the huge amount of investment they made for wedding photography.

These are just a few of the steps I have taken to improve and I will continue to learn and respect all of my wedding clients. I have been told by my mentors, that a client will be way more satisfied if you always give them not your 100% everyone does that, but more like 1000% that extra 0 has no extra cost. It has led me to receive amazing reviews and the joy I get when my clients are over satisfied, yes there is such a thing. Give them the wedding photography they well invested in. Smile and be everything they expected in a wedding photographer.

Wedding Abigail & John Stella Maris, Alhambra Hall 11/12/2016

As we are near the end of this year 2016, I realize how so lucky, and fortunate and honored I am being a part of wedding photographers in Charleston. The best part about this great talent is meeting and having the pleasure of having such amazing clients. So I write and dedicated this blog today to my fantastic clients Abigail & John. I met Abigail and her lovely mom Ann, back in August at the southern bridal show. We met at my studio a month later and fortunately for me, I was so lucky to have them bring me on as part of their wedding team. Shortly after that, we had another meeting with the lovely Caroline, the wedding coordinator and we all put together the perfect magical day. I was fortunate enough to have Abigail & her friends and mom for her bridal session that took place at her home and in our Holy City that included the college of Charleston Cistern. Then came November 11th, when I showed up to capture the rehearsal dinner a perfect theme held at Dunes West Golf & River Club a low country boil, that included some very heartfelt speeches. On the wedding day as I always do, I captured John the groom and his parents and the groomsmen, and then went by Abigail house to capture her and her parents and the so fun bridesmaids. Charleston bus company provided the travel to Stella Maris located in Sullivan Island, one of my favorite churches, so unique and sacred. There I observed and captured with my second shooter a full mass wedding ceremony. Shortly after capturing the family photos and the amazing photo of Abigail & John leaving the church as the bridal party waved their handkerchiefs, we then got on the Charleston bus to Mount Pleasant, at the old village, so that I could get some amazing images for the Abigail and John that included the so fun bridal party. For our final stop, we then proceeded to the lovely venue for the reception at Alhambra Hall, located in the old village of Mount Pleasant, Sc for more photos of the lovely couple. It was getting dark by that time and I remember Abigail, a request to me that was always about taking sunset photos. Unfortunately we were getting ready for rain, however, I did manage to capture some of my favorite sunset (made and created my magic) night photos, I have ever taken. I love the Southern charm of this wedding the beauty of Alhambra hall, overlooking the Charleston Harbor, filled with large oak trees, and Spanish moss, the décor elements created by Caroline the coordinator, a true southern charm soiree with over 200 family and friends that attended this wedding and reception. To make this night ever better, Abigail brother, Stephen Thompson, who owns a catering company called Dashi an eclectic Spanish and Asian cuisines catered the entire wedding. If I may add, one of the best catering and food I have ever tasted with over 500 weddings, that I have had the pleasure to capture. Family and friends and the lovely couple enjoyed the night away with the band Permanent Vacation who nearly had everybody dancing all night long.

Thank you, Abigail, John, and her mom, for giving me this once in a lifetime honor to be a story maker and to capture the emotions, of love and tears for you all that you will cherish for many years to come. I am very grateful and very appreciative. God Bless & thank you once again.

A Charleston, SC Sunrise Engagement Session For Brittany & Michael

Charleston, what a great way to start this lovely wedding Monday engagement blog then by featuring my clients Brittany & Michael, engagement session captured in our Holy City of Charleston, Sc. They say you give and you should receive. Yes, this is how Brittany and I met back at the Wedding Festivals bridal show back on August 14th. During the bridal show as a wedding photographer vendor, part of being there is to meet new potential wedding clients. If a client decides to fill out the wedding inquiry form they are also eligible to win a door prize at the end of the show. We at www.kingstreetphotoweddings.com gave away an engagement session and a bridal portrait. Brittany had already filled out the inquiry form that included having hired a wedding coordinator called Fabulous Fete (great planners) and unfortunately for us had already booked a wedding photographer. It did not matter to us that she already had picked a wedding photographer as my daughter little Chloe who is so always happy to help her dad, picked Brittany to receive this amazing engagement session. I am so glad she picked her because what a great person she is smart, respectable and it was such a pleasure seeing her smile on her face when she won this engagement session.

We set up the engagement session to include the terrific background of our Holy City known as Charleston, Sc. We made it a very early sunrise session and I got a pleasure to meet the groom to be Michael, great looking young men, smart as well, and you could tell they will be a perfect couple. As you can see by the images below, they are all breathtaking and you can see that the couple is happy and be enjoying the moment. “They are beautiful, artistic and capture some great Charleston eye-pieces”. That sentence came from Brittany when she saw the images.

The moment we finished this engagement session Brittany so impressed with my amazing talent that she quickly asked me to capture her bridal portrait. What a great honor that will be as well.

Here below as I always ask my clients to provide to me a paragraph or two about how they became one. Enjoy:

Michael and I met on Eharmony in December of 2011. Both of us joined the site to see what online dating was ‘all about.’
Michael was my very first match and we both started chatting online, eventually texting, talking on the phone, and setting up our first date in early January. We met at a sushi place in downtown Columbia, SC. We both have different takes on how it went— I felt it was somewhat awkward as we were both trying to get to know each other. The following weekend, Michael took me out for dinner again on Sunday night; from that weekend on we spent every weekend together. At the time I was at USC School of Medicine getting my Master’s degree and Michael was a finance officer in the air force. By the end of our first year together we’d moved into a little house in Hopkins, SC between my school in Columbia and Michael’s work at Shaw AFB in Sumter.

Two and a half years later, on May 4, 2014, Michael delivered three things to my bedside: breakfast from our favorite cafe, a hot coffee, and a poem. The poem read:
Well, our calendar has spelled out, for almost a week. My plan for today is a “yes” that I seek.
To tell you the truth I’m very ready. To take your ring finger and make it quite heavy.
I’m so tired of having this ring in my possession, you two should meet. It’s a match made in heaven.
So let’s go get dressed, it’s time for some action. Although, looking at you is quite a distraction.
Just remember one thing and don’t you forget it. I’ll love you forever, my whole heart, you have it.
Michael took me to lunch at the same restaurant that we’d had our first date and stopped the waiter halfway through lunch, “excuse me, can you take some pictures? I’m about to propose to my girlfriend.” A few months later we moved to Charleston for my first year of medical school at MUSC and Michael’s first year of law school at Charleston law. We decided on a long engagement due to school schedules. We finally get married this coming April (2017) and we’re both so excited to start our lives together!

A Fabulous Wedding At Seaside Point & Palmetto Hall Fete At Wild Dunes Resort For Elizabeth & Brandon

As I post about another fantastic wedding that I am always so honored to capture I am also reminded that every wedding is so very different. Being an image maker and a storyteller can be the most gratifying part for me and any wedding photographer. Every client has an idea of where they would like to celebrate their special day in the Lowcountry and there are so many different options here in our beautiful city. For this couple, Lizzy & Brandon, who met on Tinder and never looked back decided to have their destination wedding at the beautiful Wild Dunes Resort and why not? It’s a beautiful resort, with first class service, so many beautiful backgrounds; a truly unique venue.

Lizzy reached out to me when the lovely Samantha Martin gave her my contact, as she was looking for a fine art wedding photographer who was familiar with Wild Dunes. When I found out that the wedding was at Wild Dunes Resort and the ceremony was on the beach at Sea Side Point, and the reception taking place at the lovely Palmetto Hall, I knew that this would be quite a fete, being that her family and guest were flying in from around the world. In fact, the actual theme for this wedding was “travel”. When I first spoke to Lizzy, she had an accent that I was very accustomed to, that beautiful Australian accent, where I must admit the most talented wedding photographers come from. Being a Ph.D., MPH, RNutr, I realized she was not only very smart but was very selective in her vendors for her special day. It did not take long after that conversation for her to give me the honor and privilege to capture this special wedding for them.

This day with the perfect autumn with the island nuptials could not have been any better: clear blue sky and the perfect weather. I arrived at the house that Lizzy had rented. There I started taking pictures while she and her bridesmaids had their makeup and hair was done. Lizzy wore a gown by Madame Trousseau (an Australian-born designer), and the bridesmaids had a perfect blue pallet amazing style dresses custom made by Gelique in South Africa which mimicked the blue of the sky. The flower girl and Lizzy’s mom and siblings enjoyed that special moment while I captured everyone, we then proceeded to the ceremony at Sea Side Point for the island nuptials. Stephanie Manns sang and played guitar, surrounded by 100 of Lizzy and Brandon’s family and friends. Mom walked her daughter down the aisle, with everyone in awe of both of them. It was an emotional and heartfelt moment for them both while Brandon stood there smiling in happiness. After Brandon kissed his bride, family and friends enjoyed the cocktail hour at Grand Pavilion, and the reception at Palmetto Hall, with the room vibrant and well decorated by the very talented Arielle Stratton of Party Love Birds. Everyone enjoyed the amazing service and food catered by Wild Dunes Resort; always a special treat, with DJ Stephen from Darby Events doing what he always does best and bringing his music to life by having the now married couple Lizzy & Brandon, family and friends enjoy this amazing soirée as they danced the night away.

Thank you so very much, Lizzy & Brandon, for having me capture this once in a lifetime moment for you both, I am deeply honored and very appreciative, may you have the best loving life together.

A little story from the lovely couple in their own words about how this day became:

Brandon and I met online via Tinder and very quickly arranged to meet in person. It’s crazy to think how we almost didn’t meet each other, though! We arranged to meet on a Sunday evening at 7 pm, and at 6.30pm Brandon texted me to ask if I would mind if he showed up late, around 7.30pm. For most people, they might be flexible with this, but all my friends and family know that I HATE people being late and am ALWAYS on time or early to every appointment. So I told Brandon no, that I would leave by 7.10pm if he wasn’t there by then. I expected him to get annoyed, but instead he phoned me right away and apologized and said he would be there on time. So at 7 pm exactly he called me and asked me where I was. I told him I was sitting on the blue sofa. I heard him ask the barman, “Where’s the blue sofa” and heard in reply “We don’t have a blue sofa, but the bar in Carrboro does”. Brandon had turned up at the wrong bar! It happened that there were TWO bars with the same name in two different towns, and Brandon was at the Durham bar while I was in Carrboro. We both laughed, and he jumped in his car and turned up 15 minutes later at the right bar where I was still waiting. I knew within 20 seconds that I liked him, and by the end of the night I knew I REALLY liked him (Brandon says the same about me), after eight days we had said “I love you” and within six months we were engaged and 15 months later we are still crazy about each other.

When we had been dating for just a few months, Brandon took me on a weekend trip to Charleston, one of his favorite cities in the US. I also fell in love with it, especially being from Australia where you are always near the ocean. I loved that Charleston was close to the water. So when we started planning our wedding, we knew Charleston had to be the place. We chose Wild Dunes for a number of reasons; it was on the beach (very important to this Aussie!), it was a resort that could cater easily to guests visiting from so many cities and countries, and our guests could relax at their beach houses, but be close enough to visit downtown Charleston for a day or two. Many of our guests said they were happy we chose Charleston because of the amazing food too!

A Fabulous Summer Lowcountry Wedding At Palmetto Dunes Hilton Head, Sc For Shelley & Kevin On 6/3/2016

How can I start this blog today about Shelley & Kevin, my incredible good looking, great caring and wonderful clients that I am still today in awe so very happy to have had the honor and privilege to capture their magical day.

I remember back in August of the last year 2015, having a phone conversation with Shelley who at that time made it very clear that a wedding photographer was the most important vendor for her. She had many questions and a huge concern because she had a huge bridal party of 18 and 5 kids, she asked me if that amount of people scared me, I think she meant overwhelming? Ha, ha My reply was actually the more the better. It was just only 3 days later when I got the reply email from her that everyone was on board in giving me this great opportunity. Moving forward towards the wedding day, in early May of 2016, when Shelley & Kevin and I had a phone conference, as to getting to know Kevin, and in designing the perfect timeline for their wedding day that included pre-wedding photos, first look, and the amazing family photos, that required going to many different locations of Palmetto Dunes. Because of this great timeline and the time we took to do it, everything on their wedding day was perfect and I may add on time. My day started early with Kevin and the groomsmen true Kentucky men, great guys. Kevin was very happy receiving a gift from Shelley a Burberry Swiss Chronograph Timepiece. I then made my way to the gorgeous house that Shelley and her parents rented, where the bridesmaids and the children stayed, we took many great photos that lead to Shelley getting a gift from Kevin a Diamond teardrop necklace. We then had the first look on the amazing bridge, that took us to family photos with rich greenery, that led to the incredibly beautiful beach ceremony at Palmetto Dunes House, then bridal party photos with the spectacular couple and then the soiree reception at The Centre Court. A truly magical day for everyone.

As a wedding photographer if you are a future client looking at this blog, I want you to pay attention to many things portrayed in the wedding images, the story, the capture of it all, the details, the bridal party, the amazing family photos that are so fabulous, the children, their emotions, the parents, I could go on and on, my desire for every wedding and the way of concluding this blog is very simple, I live by this business and artistic principles, it is always an honor to capture your wedding. I realize you are making a huge investment, and I want you all to have the wow factor when you see your wedding images I have captured because too many times I hear these two statements that mean so much to me. 1) The day went by so fast, I can hardly remember everything and you captured it perfectly. 2) my wedding was only one day and you made very sure I saw it through your artistic eyes, you never missed a beat or a moment. That makes my heart right and is my only goal…! Thank you, great clients, for the business, honor the amazing Wedding Wire Review and always God Bless, may you all may you live the perfect life.

A little story in their words about how this day became the bride and groom:

Kevin and I met through a mutual friend while out in Louisville, Kentucky celebrating a Kentucky Basketball win. After getting to know each other a little (as much as you can while out) and exchanging numbers, Kevin asked me out for an official date just a few days later. Whether we went out for lunch or dinner was based on a “bet” Kevin made with me. Knowing that we were both big Kentucky fans, he bet that if the UK won the game the next Monday night, he would take me to dinner. He already knew the odds were in his favor and ended up with a dinner date. We shared all about ourselves over dinner and were having such a great time we decided to continue the date with a few drinks after. We quickly learned that a love for Kentucky sports was not all we had in common. Traveling, going to the lake, and being at the beach are just a few amongst the many things we found. Kevin was persistent with asking me out but knew I was very busy. I was in Pharmacy school and had an extremely busy schedule when we met, but I knew there was something special about this guy and did everything I could to make my schedule work to see him. It didn’t take long to introduce each other to our friends, and families weren’t too far to follow. When I met Kevin’s family, I could see the love he had for all of them and how much they reminded me of my own family. We both knew this was something special.
Fast forward and after a few trips together, our love for traveling lead us to planning our first Europe trip together. Being the planners we are, we had every detail of each day planned out in Paris, Florence, Positano, and Rome. As I talked about our trip to friends, they all had their theories of the proposal plan he had in each city. Everything from the lock bridge or Eiffel tower in Paris to the Spanish Steps in Rome. About three months before our trip I walked into Kevin’s house for what I thought was an ordinary Friday night. Being anything but predictable, Kevin had planned the perfect proposal months before everyone thought it was coming. Being from different cities, we knew we wanted a destination wedding and something none of our friends had done. This lead us to our long search for the perfect destination. After much consideration, Hilton Head won and Palmetto Dunes had everything we wanted. The one thing I wanted out of our wedding was amazing photos, which is why we chose Michel Berda of King Street Photo Weddings. He provided wonderful service through the entire process and we are so excited to share his work with our family and friends. We vowed our love for one another on June 3, 2016. It’s an amazing feeling to know you get to spend the rest of your life with your best friend and we are both so excited to see what adventures our future holds.
