A Beautiful Wedding At The Daniel Island Club In Charleston Sc, For Nikki & Alex On 3/7/2015

Wow 2015 and weddings season just beginning my passion my love, my way of exploring new artistic style to my images and creating that wow factor for every client that gives me this amazing honor.

As I write about this wedding post, my clients Nikki & Alex found me through one of my many wedding website that recommends my services. When I met with both them, I knew that this wedding was going to be over the top, both in the pre-wedding photo location in this case the Murdock Castle. “WOW” is all I can say, too many amazing opportunities as a artist to create those one-of-a-kind images, then having their reception at the beautiful Daniel Island Club, witch is 7 minutes from where I live. I love this venue— a clubhouse, golf course, marsh view, private dock— could you ask for anything else! Oh yes, I forgot an amazing top-notch professional staff ran by Greg and Erin, with the day-of coordinator, the awesome Brittanie.

On this day, I arrived to Mugdock Castle about 1.5 hours early and did not overlook the opportunity to capture some of the restaurants and gorgeous island scenery while driving through Sullivans.

Then came the best part, arriving at a medieval time castle, the Mugdock Castle. The minute I opened the door, my eyes were drawn everywhere: the spiral staircase, swords, old, thick Brick walls, Window light, I could spend all day writing about this place. The Groom Alex, as always very friendly, nice and a total gentleman asked if I needed anything. Having just arrived, I only needed to start setting up and taking pictures LOL. The groom and groomsmen wore light gray suits in a very European way- chic. I began as always photographing Alex and the groomsmen, shortly after that I walked upstairs to another amazing room, there I found happy-go-lucky great Nikki. What a wonderful person, with her family and bridesmaids. I actually called one my little monkey – she had an energy, zeal, and pep that brought a smile to everyone and kept us moving to get in as many pictures before the sun fell behind the marsh. This particular gal had such a fun glow and happy smile that I knew why she and Nikki were great friends. I proceeded to photograph my favorite moment. As a father this is huge for me the father seeing his daughter for the first time in her dress. I have no idea how I take these photos, it makes me cry every time. The bride wore a beautifully elegant dress by Jenny Yoo ; shoes by Bagley Mishka, and the bridesmaid dresses were a soft mint color that complemented the gents’ dusty peach chambray ties. The flowers and arrangements had the perfect accent to match it all.

We then drove to the ceremony at The Daniel Island Clubhouse. What a perfect day; the sun shinning, God above all of us, friends and family with joy, love and laughter; the ceremony went perfectly. At one point, the reader of ceremony verses recited: “When I was a child, I spoke like a child…but then [upon marriage], I did away with my childish ways.” It was perfect, except that… he was still a child!! LOL. Everyone loved that moment. You could feel the emotion flowing through everyone.

The reception was amazing. Appetizers and cocktails delectable. In Southern fashion, great stations peppered the reception with varieties of strip loin, crab cakes, scallops & Alfredo, and other tasty morsels prepared by the Daniel Island Club’s own catering crew. While the bride and groom made their rounds, exchanging hugs and congratulations, guests enjoyed the meal, laughed and danced (sometimes all at once!). It’s impossible for everyone to know each other at a wedding, but somehow everyone here had a friendly, kind familiarity, and they weren’t shy to get up and shake it. The Spiked Peach Tea Arnold Palmer surely motivated.

The fantastic David Higgins Band (.com J) concluded the ceremony with my favorite song, ‘People Fall In Love In Mysterious Ways.” A Perfect evening. I have some new friends now, and I am so happy for that. Thank you so much, Nikki & Alex for the honor, trust, and more importantly the friendship.

Here for the bride and groom in their words is how they met.

“Like many good things, it was chance. It was out of the blue, and with a little persistence (ok, a lot of persistence), the steps fell in place. Through Nikki’s successful marketing and event planning career, Alex landed in one of her events, saw a beautiful unattainable girl- busy with business and directing employees to tasks – and thought… ‘I could use a boss like that.’ With two workaholics tempting fate by trying to schedule a get-together, it took at least a month before the opportunity materialized. But it did. Alex wasn’t ready to fail. On their first date, Alex showed up on a motorcycle, and since that didn’t scare her away, he advanced to level two –the actual date, dinner, and over an hour of humor, unusual, and out of the blue (but obviously with a purpose). Time later, after a movie, some downtown dog walks, and a few home improvement projects later, the formal dating began.

Had it not, an invoice for the repairs may have been in their future, probably requiring special payment terms, at some unlabeled office building, that probably served dinner and a bottle of wine. But the initial ploy worked, so the rest will just have to be kept for marriage. Here we go… ”

Photographing family portraits can be very challenging even at this beautiful venue the Daniel Island Club. I usually always request from my clients a family list and I can generally get this family photos captured correctly in 15 minutes. I had so much time when I finished taking the photos at The Daniel Island Club that I had a good 40 minutes left to capture the groom & the bride, and the bridal party.
